you were handsome,
with your muscular toned
body
and
chestnut eyes,
a face and smile that always
make me weak and reduced to a blathering idiot.
I wanted to rush over
and hold you
but I noticed you were working
and I knew I shouldn’t distract you.
Instead,
I smiled at you as I walked by
and
seeing me
you panted
and
wagged your black fuzzy tail.
