Literary Stalker….

October 1, 2009

books

In the library…

you stalked me like a tiger

hungry for the snack I read.

Aware of your presence,

I shifted nervously on my perch

and continued to read

as you circled around.

Looking up,

our eyes

surprised

meet

embarrassed of being caught off guard

you smiled a

cold

predatory smile

and

retreated into the cover of

once un-shelved trees.

Persuer dissuaded,

I returned to my

book.

I Saw You [39]

I Saw You…

with your red, white and black bag

that marked you as one of

them.

A member of that dreaded clan

more feared then the shinobis

of legend.

you…spiritually enlightened

you…empowered

you…easily bought by cliche manifestos

you…willing to pay a $100 bucks on stretchy pants

that don’t cover your ankles

so you… can fit in

you…a proud member of clan lulu

you…

twit.

I Saw You…

you were handsome,

with your muscular toned

body

and

chestnut eyes,

a face and smile that always

make me weak and reduced to a blathering idiot.

I wanted to rush over

and hold you

but I noticed you were working

and I knew I shouldn’t distract you.

Instead,

I smiled at you as I walked by

and

seeing me

you panted

and

wagged your black fuzzy tail.

I Saw You [37]

I Saw You…

standing there

arms straight and stiff at your sides

head raised to the sky

screaming at the top of your lungs

announcing the unfairness

of the world

and

for a moment

felt the urge to join in.

However,

having been here longer than you,

I knew

that it would

be

an act

of mere futility.

I Saw You [36]

I Saw You…

red eyed and crying

as those around you

tried not to look

so as not to get involved.

They seemed embarrassed

at your public display

of

emotions

and

awkwardly shifted in their seats.

As I watched you,

I wondered,

do you cry for a lover lost

or

for the heart hardened world

you live in?

I Saw You…[#2]{Guest Poet}

I saw you again But I know you didn't see me, then or now. You haven't changed much with time. I have. I first saw you seventeen long years ago (Or was it 18)? Your clothes could be the same as I remember. Are those the same corduroy jacket, dress pants, and white, collapsible stick that you had all those years ago? I see you own a cell phone now. And I wonder: does it take pictures?

I Saw You…[#1]{Guest Poet}

I saw you…

Your black knitted cap covered

cherry Kool-aid hair

color as natural as its flavor

your artfully torn

fishnets

announced you were fishing.

most fish would escape

but you know your quarry.

I watched

surprised

as you traded

genuinely friendly

salutations

with a more conventionally

dressed

friend(?).

Of course,

at the bottom of the stairs

you each went

your

separate ways.
